Free PC Audio Recorder is a free Windows program that lets you record audio on your PC.
If you need a quick and simple way to record your voice over a microphone connected to your Windows computer, then Free PC Audio Recorder is a solid option. In addition to recording audio from a microphone, it can capture any audio from an onboard sound card or a dedicated sound card.
Free PC Audio Recorder simply records what the sound card provides, so the mix and sound quality are all controlled by the sound card rather than the program. In other words, the quality that Free PC Audio Recorder delivers will vary from one user to the next based on the quality of their equipment.
The program has a simple user interface that’s intuitive but also a bit ugly. Recording is as simple as creating a new file through the File menu and using Start, Pause, and Stop buttons. You can easily turn on and turf off recording from the microphone, the sound card, or both. There’s also an option to View Logs, which can contain some relevant error information. If you want to adjust the mix or the quality, you’ll have to do this through sound card software rather than the program itself.
It’s worth mentioning that all versions of Windows have a built-in sound recorder program. This app makes it quite simple to record any sound provided through a microphone connected to the system. In cases where a sound card supports a loopback channel, such as Stereo Mix or Wave-Out Mix, it’s also possible for Sound Recorder to match the function of recording other audio on the PC. Sound Recorder also has options for bit rate, sampling rate, and so forth that Free PC Audio Recorder does not.
